text: On The Waterfront was made in 1954. I first saw it on TV in the 1960s. It was filmed in Hoboken, NJ. Wanting an authentic look, Kazan cast many local dockworkers and tough guys, including heavweights Abe Simon, Tami Mariello, and Tony Galento. Characters in OTW looked like my dad and people inmy world.
