Fractured Space:                            Sculpture for the Modern World

Starting with Rodin's experimental portrait of Balzac, and Picasso's and Matisse's figures from non-western art, the definition of sculpture has broadened over the course of the twentieth century.

Artists Isamu Noguchi, Rachel Whiteread, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Rachel Whiteread altered how we see 3-dimenstional space. Isamu Noguchi, Robert Rauschenberg and Keith Haring collaborated with avant-garde choreographers to expand the applications of sculpture into performance art.

Now we see the impact of new technologies like 3-D printers on the world of sculpture.
