Fractured Space:                            Sculpture for the Modern World

Starting with Rodin's experimental portrait of Balzac and Picasso's and Matisse's figures from non-western art, the definition of sculpture broadened over the course of the twentieth century.

Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Rachel Whiteread altered how we see 3-dimensional space. Isamu Noguchi, Robert Rauschenberg and Keith Haring collaborated with avant-garde choreographers to expand the applications of sculpture into performance art. The impact new technologies continues to expand the definition of 3-dimensional art.
