From Veronese to Banksy    Artists Facing Censorship

For the last couple of decades, Banksy has used graffiti art to protest while remaining anonymous, the women of Pussy Riot use music and social media to speak out against Putin at great personal risk.

Artists throughout history have had to cope with censorship. Veronese challenged his Inquisitors, Rod Serling used in science fiction to avoid network censors, and former slave Bill Traylor bore witness to racism  during the reconstruction.

This talk is a homage to the spirit of artists from the past, and young artists today, who find ways to oppose censorship.
